What do you call the world? was an immersive installation containing five peace lilies growing downwards from a table attached to the ceiling toward the harsh glow of modern grow lights. Within the installation, viewers' eyes adjust to the magenta light changing their relative sense of color. Upon leaving, the world of neutral light appears in greenish hues until their eyes are able to readjust. Reference documents and measuring instruments (i.e. CO detector, digital thermometer, and smoke detector) hang upside down, fighting our sense of gravity. Within the installation, gravity and color, two anchoring points for reality, are made relative.
